The puppet show

On behalf of the shopkeepers' association of Sliedrecht (Kerkbuurt) I was allowed to invite the puppet show to come and play.
An older man and a young colleague got out of the van that was driving up. After some talking back and forth, the gentlemen started to build the puppet show. Considering all this I thought to myself "this is definitely old Dutch" with the emphasis on old. Everything shows that this puppet theater dates from an earlier century. Once everything was in place with some help from strings, etc., the puppeteer entered the arena in his already dated polka dot costume. The performance begins, it sounded from the creaky music box. Jan Klaasen entered the stage and started his adventure. The passion that this puppeteer showed was unprecedented. The nearly 30 children stood on the benches screaming and jumping when the crook appeared. Completely immersed in the story, these kids experienced the wonderful world of the puppet show. In fact, I must confess that I dreamed back to my youth when I was left behind by my mother at the puppet theater as a little boy. A chapeau and a deep bow for this puppet show with its nostalgic look.

nlDe poppenkast Namens de winkeliers vereniging van Sliedrecht (Kerkbuurt) mocht ik de poppenkast uitnodigen om te komen spelen.
Uit het busje wat aan kwam rijden stapte een oudere man samen met een jonge collega uit. Na wat over en weer gepraat begonnen de heren de poppenkast op te bouwen. Dit alles in ogenschouw nemend dacht ik bij mij zelf "dit is zeker oud Hollands" met de nadruk op oud. Aan alles is te zien dat deze poppenkast uit een vroegere eeuw stamde. Toen alles eenmaal stond met wat hulp van touwtjes ed kwam de poppenkast speler in zijn ook al gedateerde bolletjes kostuum de arena betreden. De voorstelling begint klonk het uit de krakkerige muziek box. Jan Klaasen betrad het toneel en begon zijn avontuur. De passie die deze poppenkast speler aan de dag legde was ongekend. De bijna 30 kinderen stonden op de banken te schreeuwen en te springen toen de boef tevoorschijn kwam. Helemaal meegaand in het verhaal beleefde deze kids de wondere wereld van de poppenkast. Eigenlijk moet ik ook eerlijk bekennen dat ik weer wegdroomde naar mijn jeugd als ik als klein kereltje door mijn moeder werd achtergelaten bij de poppenkast. Een chapeau en diepe buiging voor deze poppenkast met zijn nostalgische uitstraling.
